If you are helping your family or friends de-clutter it really important to be respectful when you discuss thier belongings. Just because you don’t see the value in the things they own, does not mean they worthless. If you alienate your loved ones by not being respectful of their belongings or their reasons for keeping them, chances are they won’t let you help them. I have seen a really good declutter session come to an abrupt halt because the clients daughter said ‘Mum, you really don’t need all this junk’. Her mother was very offended and the session had to be postponed.
