Have you got a case of Analysis Paralysis? This happens when you feel that the decisions you need to make to de-clutter are too big. So we avoid making the decision at all. There are two common causes for Analysis Paralysis and luckily some very simple solutions.
I Don’t Know Where to Start / I’m Overwhelmed.
Solution – Start Small:

Make some small decisions to get you going, a small de-clutter project is a good first step. A small room or even just the corner of a room such as the TV stand or bookcase. Or small cabinets or cupboards that contain items that have no monetary value and that you have no emotional attachment to. Good items to start with are cleaning equipment / food stores / Toiletries.
These small manageable projects won’t be overwhelming, but they will give you a sense of accomplishment that could get the ball rolling.
Don’t try to de-clutter large areas or items that require big decisions until you are comfortable with the small things. De-cluttering Gifts / Clothes / Memorabilia / Paperwork requires making bigger more emotive decisions, so wait till you are in the groove to work on these projects.
When you are faced with a difficult de-cluttering choice thing logically and break the decision down into smaller more manageable thought poroceses. Ask yourself 3 questions. The answers will help you decide if the item should be kept or not.

1 What is the worst that will happen if this item is not in my house tomorrow
2 Is the item as valuable to me today as it was when I first got it.
3 How will letting go of this item affect me a year from now.
I Want my House to Be Instagram Perfect / I’m Discouraged
Solution: Understand that Perfect Instagram Pictures are basically just Fake News.
By now we have all seen the Instagram pictures of Kim Kardashians Pantry. Social media is chock full of perfectly organised drawers and closets, kitchens and bathrooms. But people rarely live like that (and if they do, they certainly don’t cook! Or have a family to raise.) Real homes don’t like this and frankly it would be pretty weird if they did.

Most of these pictures are made by influencers promoting products or doing product placement shots for a fee.
So before you start have a realistic goal of what you want. There are some excellent Instagram pages that show how real de-cluttering & home organisation looks. You can still get amazing results without having an Instagram ready home. Matching Tupperware and colour coded canned goods are not essential factors in having a decluttered home. You don’t need to spend a lot of money, trust me!
A Decluttered home that is well organised, comfortable, easy to maintain and full of people and things you love. THAT should be the GOAL!
